(Note that in the Windows SfB app, the conversation history and tabbed list of open conversations are separate so this confusion doesn't happen.) Our efforts to mask the underlying session model have exposed various issues that made the proposed solution unstable, perform poorly, or not work correctly in various scenarios. The problem comes in that the Chats list also acts as a tabbed "switcher" for conversations. The Chats list in the app shows the conversation history where you see multiple conversations sessions with the same person. (Note that Skype consumer service uses a completely different back end that was built independently when Skype was it's own company.) Find your operating system in the sections above and follow the instructions in its section. Start by deleting your Skype history from your computer. Skype for mobile is synchronized with your computer version of Skype, so changes to one will affect the other. Rearchitecting the entire product ecosystem is not feasible. First, delete the history on your computer. This has been true since the original Office Communicator product, and the entire ecosystem is built around the architecture. The fundamental problem is that Office Communicator/Lync/Skype for Business conversation model is session-based, not people-based, so every conversation between two people is distinct and stored independently in the conversation history in Exchange. Since this has been a long-running discussion, and people have asserted various solutions over time, I will offer some context on the issue and our efforts to resolve it. This does not prevent multiple entries in the Chats list for the same contact. ( Show conversations in separate windows is enabled in Preferences, or you have double-clicked an item in chats to pop out a window.) In this case, we will reuse the same, open window for all conversations with that contact. In the latest Insider release, we have an improvement that prevents multiple windows if a conversation is open in a separate window. We are not ignoring the issue, nor are we declining to fix it because of Teams. Unfortunately, the timeline for a fix that I had original expected has not worked out.
Please fix that stuff finally or let me know what else to do. I already tried to delete profile and deleting all cache files, but no success. I am now on the newest version 16.3.241 and again no history.

Conversation history can also be found in the Conversation tab in the Windows Skype for Business client client or the Chat tab on your Mac client. Hi all, my conversation history broke again since the last two updates. It is automatically deleted after the retention period expires. Note: Paid calls history is retained by Microsoft for tax and compliance purposes for up to 10 years. Select Export current month to history file.
I know that this is a frustrating experience in the UI. Conversation history for Instant Messages includes date, time, participants and conversation text. To export your paid calls history: Sign into the Skype account page with your Microsoft Account. In the confirmation window, tap Delete again.First, let me say 'thanks' to everyone for patience on this. Exporting Chat History is a different topic and yes, Microsoft could make that better.
Posts to a Team are not subject to the same rule, so by choosing a chat versus a post to the Team people can pick if the post will be retained or expire. From the Contacts tab, tap and hold on the contact you want to delete. With Chat we have a retention policy removing all chats older than XX days.Note: Deleting multiple contacts is not available on Skype for Android, Skype for iPhone, or Skype for iPad.
